im babysitting and i want to make a cake with the kids. can i use mayo to substitute for eggs?

i heard that using mayo instead of eggs works, and actually makes the cake more moist ans soft. is this true? if so, how much do i use for a betty crocker yellow cake? i heard you could use mayo instead of eggs, and that it makes the cake very moist. can i use egg white mix instead also? if so can i have the measurments?

Details:

  1. Why on earth would you want to do this? Eggs have way less fat than mayo. Why not just go straight for Lard?
  2. The same amount that it's used in this recipe that I'm including. 1 cup http://www.bigoven.com/163816-Pammys-Mayonnaise-Chocolate-Cake-recipe.html edit: Here is the egg white 3 tbsp for 1 egg white http://www.eggwhitesint.com/recipes.htm
  3. ahah nope. try orange juice.
  4. yes but be careful of the portions because half of each teaspoon is oil and not egg. its a possible substitute, although i use mashed banana, its a great substitute in chocolate cake!
  5. Yes, you can - mayonnaise is made mostly of egg yolks and oil, so you substitute the mayo for both the eggs and oil in the cake. If a Betty Crocker cake uses 1/3 cup oil and 2 eggs?, you can substitute about 3/4 cup of mayonnaise. You will still want to add the water to the cake mix.
  6. apple sauce is the best ingredient for that substitution.
