  6. Can anyone give me any ideas for a "sugar and spice and everything nice" girls baby shower?

Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of! What would be some cute decorating ideas? And I need ideas for a cake. Lots of help would be greatly appreciated!

  7. german baby shower ideas?

Hi, my sisters baby shower is coming up and her husband is german. I thought it would be cool to incorporate some of the german heritage into the shower too. But I have no idea about the culture. I would mainly love to decorate a cake with a german theme, but suggestions for other decorations would be awesome too. The baby is a girl and will be named Heidi by the way. Thanks!!

  8. Which type of Baby Shower would you prefer and is this cake appropriate for all ages?

My sister in law is 19 weeks pregnant and due in december. I am going to throw her a surprise baby shower in a few months and have two ideas as to how to do it...(keep in mind there will be about 25-30 guests at least) A shower at my home in the back yard (which is really lovely btw lol), making all the food ourselves, decorating with a 'ducky' theme as she is not finding out the gender so it has to be neutral. Doing the usual games and what not and generally just being you normal relaxed style baby shower. This means lots of preparation, cooking and clean up etc OR A ladies High Tea at the Marriott Hotel. I have been there before and the lobby bar where they serve the high tea is absolutely stunning and is over looking the beautiful grounds. It will cost each guest $22.50 (aussie dollars). I will still have games but ones appropriate to the setting (nothing too loud, physical etc.) and I am going to ask them if I can still bring a lovely centre piece for the table and our own cake. It would be more of a special occasion for all the guests and a reason to dress up a bit and live the high life for a couple of hours. AND... Is this cake funny, tacky, inappropriate, conversation starter etc http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgur… I was going to use a barbie doll and my daughter has a tiny baby barbie that would be the perfect size so it won't be really graphic or anything lol Would you want this cake keeping in mind there will be women from all generations attending? Thanks for all input ladies! oh crap, hang on I'll try to get a link that works lol! http://www.flickr.com/photos/henryquiara/2707172651/ this one works! And the High Tea seems to be sounding a little more formal than it is. It doesn't mean only tea in china cups or anything...its tea or coffee, cakes, sandwiches, pastries etc....there's even a bar for alcohol if anyone wanted some. by dress up I mean no Jeans and flip flops, not formal attire or anything, just something pretty that you would proably make the effort for for a baby shower anyway Is it the cost that is detering anyone from wanting to go there?

  9. What are some good ideas for a back yard baby shower?

My brother and sister in law are having a baby. This is there second baby boy. Since they already have one boy who is a year and a half old we dont want t odo a traditional shower. Instead we are having a bar b q and going to invite immidiate family over to go swimming. Wre going ot ask peple only bring diapers and wipes as gifts. 10. I'm giving a baby frog theme baby shower...?

I'm giving a baby shower with the Baby Frog theme. There isn’t' much out there for this baby theme. I'm decorating in pastel green and yellow, making a diaper cake with a frog stuffed animal on top, I hand made the invitations... any other ideas for this theme? I'm looking for decoration ideas. 11. Polar Bear cake ideas?

I'm making a cake for a baby shower. It's arctic themed. I have decided on making both a cake and cupcakes. The cupcakes will be penguins as featured in the "hello cupcake" book http://newendeavor.org/LIS753/cookbook_images/penguin.gif I'm not sure what sort of iceberg/polar bear cake to make. Any ideas? (I'm very crafty and have LOTS of decorating tools). Thanks!!

  12. Help with a baby shower gift?

I want to do something creative for my good friends baby shower. I know someone else is making the "diaper cake" so I need to stay away from that. A few years ago I went to a baby shower and made a gift. I took a plastic storage container and decorated the outside with the babies name and other stickers and filled it with misc things, i.e. shampoo, a bottle, and a few other things and filled it with colored paper that i put through the paper shredder. I need some ideas on what to decorate the outside of the tub with.( I use the tub so that the expecting parents can later use it for storage. )

  13. gift ideas for new baby please help?

Hi there, i need some help with baby gift ideas. My friends and i are getting together a few ideas for someones baby shower, we want to shower her with gifts but we are on a budget. We've thought about making a nappy cake but we need more ideas ladies!!! PLEASE help! Can you think of any other cunning, inventive and imaginative gift ideas that we can make or put together. 14. Food-safe sculpture tools?

I've been getting into cake decorating recently (just birthday cakes and such for family so far), and I love working with fondont (fondant?). I'm currently working out the details of a baby shower cake for my nephew's girlfriend- the basic shapes I want to do won't be too hard, but there's only so much detail work a girl can do with her fingers and toothpicks. So I'm looking for a set of sculpture tools for my cakes, as well as a couple small brushes, but I'm reluctant to just pick up a set from the clay or paint section of the craft store because I want to be sure that whatever I end up getting is food safe. Anyone have any ideas for where I could find such a thing?

  15. I'm nervous that my baby shower is going to be a bust. Can you offer some advice?

I'm pretty clueless because I have never been to a baby shower before, so I'm basically just throwing a big casual party. It's this Sunday and it's going to be a local beachside park. It's a come one, come all event with lots of couples and a few kids. I have 26 adults and 5 kids that have RSVP'd and a few more that might show up. We are playing three games, all participation optional. 1) String around the belly 2) Bottle beer chugging contest 3) Bib decorating (white bibs with fabric pens). The three prizes are 1) $20 Starbucks gift certificate 2) $30 Restaurant Certificate 3) $20 BevMo gift certificate (Each one comes in a pretty gift bag) For food we are doing a sandwich platter, hamburgers & hotdogs, fruit platter, chips & dips. My mom got a cake too. For drinks I got a flat each of water, diet coke, coke & sprite. A full bottle of rum, vodka and mixers. A friend is bringing two coolers full of ice. My best friend did all the decorations (tablecloths, ballons, etc.). She made a diaper cake and party favors for each guest. What else? Ideas please? I'm super nervous that people are going to think it's a bust.

  16. I need baby shower advice...?

My baby shower is only 12 days away, (my mother is throwing it), and we're not really sure what we're doing. The invites are out, we're expecting about 25. I am not a fan of cheesy games and decorations. I realize that this is tradition and people expect it, but I would really rather just have a nice, classy time and skip that stuff. The shower will begin at 1:30 pm at my mother's house, we are trying to keep it cheap. I work at Chili's (and get a 50% discount), so my mom was thinking we could get party platters from my work. Some of the guests will also be Chili's employees, is it rude to serve food that they probably eat on a regular basis? Also, I would love some ideas of things to do (besides cheesy games) to entertain guests. Any non-traditional showers you have been to or thrown? Are you supposed to have a cake? Do I have to decorate with cheesy banners and blue paper plates and what not? I'm new to this. Thanks in advance for all your help.

  17. baby shower.. cookies? cupcakes?

My baby shower is Sunday. I didn't want cake since it's early afternoon and just not a good time for heavy desserts. I was thinking I could make cookies or cupcakes or something and decorate them. Ideas? Pre-made dough or make my own dough? Where can I find cute cookie cutters? How would I decorate the cupcakes? (we dont really have a set theme, just baby) Thanks :)

  18. a baby shower :D help!?

I'm planning a baby shower for one of my best friends, who is pregnant with her first baby. I need some cute original sentimental ideas. I know we'll be having a lot of diaper cake gifts. We're a huge group of friends so we'll be coordinating so that she doesn't get 15 bottles of johnson and johnson lol. And we're also putting out a bunch of white onesies with fabric pens, for guests to decorate. What else can we do? She's really shy, so no silly games. She'd be mortified if we measured her belly! We want a sophisticated sweet shower-- but I need more ideas! help!!! NOOOOOO games. I love the advice to new mom thing! CUTE

  19. Help with party ideas and information.?

So I am hosting a baby shower for my daughter this Saturday. As the time gets closer I get more worried. I do not want to disappoint her, or embarass her in front of her friends. I have never been to a shower so I got ideas from my sisters. Evidently my idea for a BBQ with beer and a game of darts is not 'shower appropriate' ha ha So, I sent out the invitations, I ordered flowers and balloon in matching colors (purple orange and green) the party is monster themed (little kid monsters not scary monsters). My home is already decorated for Halloween. I ordered a cake and plan to run through Sam's and just buy prepared stuff like a sub sandwich and fruit trays. I have 3 games figured out, guess the candy bar in the diaper, guess the baby food and a trivia game about my daughter. I am going to pick up prizes for the games tomorrow. I understand they should be low cost and 'girly' My sisters and niece are arriving Friday night to help me. What have I forgotten? I am going to record the shower - is that stupid? I can't find a welcome banner I like...

  20. Diaper cake themes...?

I am throwing my daughter a baby shower for Feb. 16th. Well I am going to make 3 diaper cakes. I am not sure what to them. The baby shower doesn't have a theme, I am just going to decorate with different things. Well I was thinking I could do a duck themed diaper cake, maybe a car and truck themed diaper cake, but don't have any clue what to do the other. I don't like the truck and car idea much though either. Could someone give me some idea's on how to theme the other 2 cakes, or maybe some themes for the other 2 that kind of go with the duck theme? I am definitely doing the duck theme because my daughter has always loved rubber ducks, and duck stuff. Can anyone help! Thanks! Bath theme sounds adorable!

  21. Fondant cakes. How do they taste? how to decorate them?

I was curious how difficult it would be to make a cake using fondant? i found some really pretty cakes and got ideas for my sisters jungle themed baby shower but have no idea what to expect when working with fondant. What does it taste like? is it hard to work with? any ideas or info is much appreciated. thanks

  22. how much do parents want to pay for a kids party?

ive been thinking of starting my own business catering and planning partys, everything from baby showers to retirements and every possible party inbetween, i know parents will pay quite alot for a sweet 16th but what about other partys. I would do everything from sending out invites, decorating the room and supplying home made food and birthday cakes the person who wants the party does nothing or as much as they want. what do you think and would you go for the idea, if you need more info let me know Im in the uk up north, i would be advertising to people who work alot and dont have the time.

  23. Diaper cakes.....But NOT exactly diaper cakes?

I wanted to make and sell diaper cakes but its like everybody is doing it. so i was wondering if it would be a good idea to use diapers to make cakes but not for baby shower only, and i was going to spray paint the diapers once its form to kind of disquise the diapers a little and still fill it with goodies and decorate with ribbon, but make them for like theme birthday parties, valentines day and other occasions to eliminate the competition. like what other objects can you use to make the foundation of the cake if its not for a baby shower? but i still need to be able to stick goodies in the cake
