  2. Sport Cake for 30th Birthday, I need some pictures or ideas!?

My boyfriend is turning 30 in August and I am throwing a huge surprise party for him. I am trying to get my pastry chef to do it and I would like to show her ideas. I was looking for something 3D and with basketball, baseball, and football ideas. I do not need pans or buying anything, I have a lady that is going to do it, I just need IDEAS AND PICTURES!

  3. Ideas to go with birthday theme?

So I decided that I am doing a "lil slugger"/baseball theme for Jacob's first birthday. I want ideas and opinions on decorations food and favors and ideas for a smash cake for Jacob. For the guest cake I think I am going to Big Y supermarket because they give a free 1st birthday cake... although I may make my own because I found one I love. Anyway my idea for some of the food is ballpark food like hamburgers, hot dogs and italian sausage....what else can I serve? I am also making cookies in the shape of baseballs, bats and gloves. Here is the cake I adore and want to make http://www.cakeitorleaveit.com/100_3407REV.jpg what do you think and how hard will it be? Or should I just have Big Y make something like this http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dbaseball%2Bcake%26ni%3D20%26ei%3DUTF-8%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501-s%26fr2%3Dtab-web%26xargs%3D0%26pstart%3D1%26b%3D781&w=100&h=75&imgurl=www.kcsprinkles.com%2Fimages%2F714_small.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kcsprinkles.com%2Fkiddykorner.asp&size=3kB&name=714_small.jpg&p=baseball+cake&type=JPG&oid=af53841bfe7378d6&no=785&tt=1,257&sigr=11ass82fp&sigi=11839c4f5&sigb=13tilohi1 I want to make or buy a baseball cake for him to smash.. should I just buy a small 6 inch white frosted cake and decorate it or should I just buy a baseball cupcake? Ideas for favors and decorations? What other foods? I have until June 6th but I am very prepared and I am also planning our vacation for 2 weeks after his birthday...we are short on money too so I want to start getting some things now. I don't know how many kids...it depends on how many in my husbands family comes....for me it will be my cousins 2 kids and my friend's kids... 4 in all.. so 6 from my side alone. maybe 12 in all. I already thought of that mommy. I am looking for redsox things as we speak...I think I'm buying the stuff at walmart. all the kids coming are 2 years on up to about 12 years if my husband's family comes if just my family and friends come then the kids will be 2-7 years old

  4. Boyfriend's Birthday. I need help with baseball Ideas?

Hello, So my boyfriend is a baseball fan and for his birthday I'm getting us two tickets on the 3rd base line (I heard that was the best spot.... please advise if it isn't) to see the Rockies. We both have the day off and I'm wondering what else I could do to make it really special. I'm going to make bratwursts for him (which is big because I'm a vegetarian), get some fresh fruit, and make a chocolate cake. I'm going to pick up cracker jacks for the game. Is there anything else I could do?? Is there another food that signifies baseball, or another gift type item that compliments the tickets?? Anyway, thanks for your help =]

  7. Can someone help with cake decorating?

My sister's birthday is coming up within a month (yes, I'm planning quite ahead) and I wanted to make her a more unique cake. I've done some different things before for other siblings (a round baseball cake for my brother and a castle cake for my other sister.), so I have minimal experience with simple, but unique cake decorating. This sister has been a camp counselor every summer for the past number of years and has thus ended up tie-dying nearly every piece of clothing she owns. So, I figured doing a tie dye cake would be a lot of fun and very appropriate for her. This is the best picture I could find (minus the seashells): http://www.madpastrycafe.com/images/portfolio/other_cakes/tiedye_l.jpg. I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who has ideas for how to do this. I was thinking of food coloring and toothpicks, but I don't know if I would need to use fondant. And I might be way off with the food coloring and toothpicks. Also, I am very apt with painting and drawing, so I know that will help with this project. Please help! Thank you so much! http://www.madpastrycafe.com/images/portfolio/other_cakes/tiedye_l.jpg Thanks for pointing that out!

  16. Planning my husband's birthday- have some ideas but would appreciate some input from others?

My husband's birthday is coming up and I'm trying to make it a good one for him Background information: He's a solider, he does military intelligence for the US Army, We're currently living on an overseas base, far from home He's an excellent father to our 1 year old son, they have all sorts of fun together! He's a huge NFL football fan, Detroit Lions are his team He also likes baseball, his team is the Detroit Tigers He's a guitarist, writes his own music and sings as well He's a gamer, plays alot of XBox 360 He's kind of a nerd...which I love...he loves museums, enjoys learning about history and knows alot about computers, plays Magic the Gathering, likens himself to Sheldon from Big Bang Theory though I think he's more like Leonard. (I sort of like to get a theme going for his birthdays, for example: last year I made his cake look like the 50 yard line with a little chocolate football, and I also gave him a zippo lighter with the Lions logo on it, fluid and extra wicks, etc.. and his gift "from our son" was alittle football brag book with his favorite pictures of his son) This year I have a few ideas, but I still feel as if the ideas are a work in progress Here are my ideas thus far: - cake made to look like his guitar - customized guitar picks with either his son's face on them, or his band's logo on them - a book of blank sheet music Any ideas to add on to or improve what I already have going? I kinda want to get him something to appeal to his nerdy side but I'm not very good at that sort of thing. Thoughts are appreciated! Thank you for your input!

  35. Another profound dream! This one is a little crazy and out there! Please help me understand?!?

    1. So this is how my dream began! I happened to have a day off from work. It was sunny and unusually bright and warm! (It's currently winter where I'm from!)... I was heading towards my car and I was wondering what I should do? I considered calling one of my friends to see if he wanted to come to the beach for a swim. I also considered calling another friend to see if he wanted to go fishing, cos I know he likes fishing! 2. Anyway I hadn't made up my mind yet, but the next thing I know I was driving in my car, thinking to myself that I would make my decision as I drove! I noticed plenty of police cars on the road and I was worried that my car might get picked up for whatever reason... thought it didn't happen 3. Next thing I know, I was a bit lost and far away from my destination wherever it was. I was kind of thirsty so I thought I'd stop by a shop to buy a drink! The next thing that happened was a bit weird! I suddenly found myself in a bus instead of my car! the bust was turning a corner. There was a sign indicating whether the bus could turn or not into this little side street! I could see that the sign said "yes" but it have scribble over it or someone tried to scratch it out! 4. I get off the bus and enter into this convenience store! I went to the fridge to grab a can of soda! Then I thought to myself that I wouldn't mind a cake or a donut or a muffin or whatever! There was a guy in front of me who ordered a muffin/cupcake! the shop keeper went to elaborate lengths to prepare this muffin. He even cut it into fours and buttered it for the guy in front of me. The shop keeper was taking his sweet time... but I didn't mind! 5. When it came my turn to be served I asked for this type of cake. I pointed it out. He mistakenly gave me a donut so I corrected him pointing at the cake saying "that one"... the weird thing that I dont understand is that these cakes were called "Lessier" cakes? (I have no idea how my mind could conjure up a word like that!)... anyway the shop keeper got it wrong again and it was the third time that I pointed it out that he got it right! by now there was a line up behind me building up! 6. I got what I wanted and left the store! Step out onto the street when I noticed a couple of teenage punks! One younger and the other older (looked like brothers!) steal money off of me... I dont know how but the little one ran off with some of my money. I decided to run and chase him down! 7. The next thing I know is that the kid runs into the drive way of some house (his house I think!). The bigger brother stood on the drive way trying to fend me off with a baseball bat! I struggled with him and knocked the bat away and pinned him on the ground. I proceeded to punch him in the head and basically beat him up! 8. When I was finished with him ( I dont think I killed him, I just incapacitated him!) I went after the young boy... I went up the driveway into the garage! 9. Suddenly it got weird and creepy! I couldn't find the kid, but what I noticed were just old junk and boxes and stuff... typical stuff you see in a garage. It was dark and gloomy but I was overcome with a sense of complete doom! 10. It occurred to me that I had been set up by the kids and that they intended to lure me into this dark gloomy shed! I thought about my predicament for a brief moment and then concluded to myself that I was basically dead! This was like from some horror movie or something! I was not in a state of fear or desperation... I just simply conceded and was resigned to the fact that this is where it was gonna end for me! Then I woke up! Thats how the dream ended! Please share your thoughts and help me to understand this most profound and vivid dream! Thank you!

  40. 14th Birthday Party. Tips?

=]. I plan ahead, alot. I planned my 13th in December last year and I did the exact thing I planned. And it really helps to have 5 month to really think thru everything. I want tips and any criticism on my idea. I am going to have a coed pool party. [I did this last year, and everyone told me to do it again! last year the theme was Luau]. I am just planning this all out. I couldnt think of a new theme for this year so I am going to just do a color scheme. For colors I wanted something funky and crazy. I am going to do Lime Green and Purple and Zebra Stripes [pattern]. I dont know why I am doing that combo but it just seems fun and crazy and not matchy matchy. =] For activitys I have a pool in my backyard. And a lake, which we had Cake and Icecream next to for my 13th. I am going to set up a volleyball net. I was thinking about getting a DJ because last year the radio stopped working at last minute right before everyone arrived, which upset me. For food... Burgers, Hotdogs, Chips, Dip, Salad, etc. Then all kinds of drinks. Last year I had a total of 25 people[including boys AND girls]. This year I am aiming more towards 38. I invited about 35 last year but I didnt check the boys baseball scheduale so most had to miss it. After the party ends I open gifts with my bestfriend who sleep over and we camp outside with a fire and stay up all night laughing. I wont open gifts at the party because there are too many and it'd take too long. =] Tips? Ideas? BTW. For the color theme. I think it just sounds VERY fun and crazy. Do you like the color ideas?

  41. Summer To do List? I'm 15 and up for anything ;D?

So far, the list is as tiny and simple as the next and I'm asking for your advice. Lucky you. THINK HARD cause I'm drawing a complete b l a n k. Here's what I have so far: Go swimming in Underwear Play baseball with Tomatoes Have a Free Hug Day Water gun drive by Camp out in someone’s backyard See how many people you can fit in a bathtub Paint/Cake fight Wear our underwear on the outside of our clothes for a day Try as many of the ways to get kicked out of Wal-Mart Race shopping carts in a parking lot Pull at least one memorable prank Go to concerts Knock on doors with masks and sing Baby Got Back Wake up to watch the sunrise, SIX times! Make You tube videos Have a kiddie pool party I know the whole, "Find a guy who's actually worth it" isn't here but could you try to not to list anything that has to do with romance? I'll get to that eventually but that's a whole different list entirely :) I'll be doing this with a large group of friends, boys and girls, so when you're thinking about putting down something sexual or offensive..don't. We really are just planning ahead for a thrilling summer :D <3 Thank you. Got any ideas?

  42. Get answers from millions of real people.?

I need to find a quilt pattern that is just random sized squares & rectangles. I'm pregnant & cant find the perfect crib bedding so I decided to ask my grandma to make one for me. I bought some fabric of colors & prints that I liked & she said it was plenty but when I showed her a scetch I'd made it totally threw her off. She has made TONS of quilts over the years & I thought this would be a piece of cake. All her quilts & everything I find online seem to be too detailed. I don't want a design, I just want random sized squares or rectangles pieced together. I am having her add a baseball and a star here & there which she has no problem w. I have no idea what it takes to make a quilt (other than lots of hard work) so I dont understand why something as simple as squares seems so hard. Please help. thanks

  45. Are we serious about fighting global warming or just kidding around?

I hear it everywhere, all the time, about greenhouse gas emissions and the need for greener technologies but are the speakers serious about it all or do they simply want their cake and eat it too? There's lot of whining/complaining about deficits being left to future generations but what about a dry, barren planet (or one that's been sunk by rising tides)? My point is this: I believe we'll need to restructure our recreational activities if we want to be serious about combating global warming. I was watching the Georgia college football game in Oklahoma and thinking about all the emissions created to have such a game. Not only transporting the team there, but their whole host of trainers, supporting band and cheerleading squads not to mention all the fans that traveled for the game. Commercials tell me to buy locally-grown produce so how about "local" games? I believe we'll need to restructure conferences to be locally oriented if we're going to be serious about fighting global warming. What's the point of Miami traveling to Boston College every year or USC playing Ohio State? Whether it's football, basketball, baseball or other sports, if you want to save or create a better future for your kids then you'll support a reorganization of professional as well as NCAA conference sports to be more regional in scope. I know traditionalists will balk at the idea but they'll need to consider their kid's future. The history books can record the traditions while reorganization of team leagues/conferences will allow the creation of new rivalries and can support the creation of new traditions for the future anyway. How about an NFL division with Miami, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville and Atlanta? Lots of rivalry potential there. Or perhaps a new South Eastern Conference with the likes of Miami, UF, USF, FSU, GT, UGA, Alabama, Miss. St, Ole Miss, Clemson, S.C. and Auburn? I'm sure there's lots of material there to create new traditions for the future. I'm also sure some mathematical model can be created to optimize shortest distances for new leagues and conferences to cut down on travel and greenhouse gas emissions. So how about it NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA, etc.?

47. Can I stack two cakes without using a support trowel?

I'm making a birthday cake for my nephew and I have a specialty baseball pan that's about 8". I'd like to bake a cake in that, and then set it on top of another baked cake that is bigger and squared. (A baseball on a field of grass is the idea.) Is this possible to do without a support or will the center of the square cake collapse from the weight of the ball cake?
