- What is the salary of a cake maker/decorator?
I've been having a hard time trying to pick a career to go into after high school and I was just thinking about professional cake making/decorating. I think it would be cool to be one of those fancy cake decorators like on Ace of Cakes or Cake boss. I'm having a hard time finding information. Is anyone out there a cake decorator and willing to give me some info? I'd like to know roughly how much money you can make per year either working for a business or by creating your own business. I'd also like to know what kind of education is best to get for this career. I live in Manitoba, Canada by the way and I do have quite a bit of creative skill.

So im into all that cake decorating business, im 1 6 and I really wanna persue that career. I know that industry is tough, and I need some advice. Where should I start? Im taking tons of foods/home economics at school, but what should I do for college? Business after college? sous chef? Pastry Chef? Salary? Any other tips? Okay. Im 22 years old I have a high School diploma and a little college experience with Criminal Justice... I plan on having a pretty large family when its time for me to settle down so I cant have a job/career that keeps me from home a lot. I need to be able to make enough money to be able to provide for my family on only my salary just in case of the absolute worst and my future husband leaves(not that im a pessimist Im just thinking realistically)and I would much rather it not be a desk job. I am excellent with people I have a amazing gift with talking and calming down teens and troubled kids and I do love that very much but I also love so many other things...law,medicine,baking I am also an amazing cake decorator(ice cream cakes too), and I have been a promoted to manager within 3 months of starting my last three jobs. I am a very loyal hard worker I just have a strange and very bad habit of needing change...or just wanting more money. They always start me very low because of my age ya know... Please help. I really want to get back in school but I don't know what for.
