Baby Shower Cake Wording Questions Answered!

  1. Baby Shower cake wording for baby as guest of honor?

The typical is Happy Shower or whatever, but I was thinking something more personal since baby is there. Would welcome"name" look okay or is there better wording for what I am trying to accomplish?

  2. Baby shower cake wording?

I am making a frog and turtle pond themed cake for my baby shower and I don't know what to write on it. I am having a little boy. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not throwing my own shower, my mother is. She was supposed to do the cake, but had to end up having surgery on her hand, so she asked me to do it. Jeez people, calm down, I was just asking a question about the cake.

  3. Giving a baby shower, what words should I put on the cake?

There is always the "Congradulations so and so" But does anyone have any other ideas? She is a cousin and she doesn't know the sex of the baby...

  4. Baby shower cake saying? help!?

I found this cute saying but i am missing a word....have you ever heard this before?? Ten little fingers, ten little toes, with love and _______ our family grows. I have no idea what the missing word is...any suggestions?

  5. Need help with wording on card for baby shower, please?

My husband's friend and his wife are expecting a baby boy. (His first child, her second.) The shower is later this month and I'm in the process of making them a diaper cake. (Star Wars theme, mainly.) I'm trying to decide what to write out on the card to attach to the diaper cake. My husband and I would like to make some pre-cooked meals for them (I'm pretty good in the kitchen) I figured I could just prep something in a baking dish- the type of meal that she could store in the fridge for a day or two and then whenever she gets hungry, her hubby could pre-heat the oven, throw the dish in for 30 minutes And that way they'd have something healthy, yummy, and best of all easy on hand to feed the family when they get back from the hospital However, how do I word in the card that I would like to do this for them? The best I came up with was "We would be honored to see to it that the mommy has a homecooked meal when she returns home from giving birth." And that just doesn't sound quite right...any suggestions on how I could better word it? Much appreciated- thank you!

  6. 20 things that have to do with babies? This is for a baby shower game word scramble I need real good ones?

also list some good baby shower games, and what should i put on my friends cake its a girl

  7. Can You Help Me With Ideas For A Couples/Family Baby Shower?

I am throwing a baby shower, however it's not the typical "women only" baby shower. Men, woman, and children are all invited. It's going to be family friendly. I am looking for ideas on how to word the invitations. I want for any member of the family to read it and realize it's not a "foo foo cake and punch" event, more like a "backyard barbeque". Any ideas you have or websites you can direct me to on how to word the invitations are greatly appreciated! Thank You!

  8. What are some good cake business names?

I won't have my own store front (I'm leasing from another bakery) so I don't want the word bakery in there. I would like the name to show that I do more than cakes (also cookies, brownies and chocolates). I also would like for it to have a home-style feel. My target market is wedding and tiered cakes (baby showers, wedding showers, anniversaries [but I do everything]) so couples and women in the 21-35 age range probably. I hope this is enough information to get some wonderful ideas. Thank you for any help!

  9. Urgent Cake Question From a Newbie :)?

Would it be terrible to make a 3 tiered cake 6 days in advance? I would need to frost 4 days in advance. If that's not recommended, how about a cupcake tree, again frosted 4 days ahead? I have been dying to do my cousins baby shower cake, but now just got the word that it is planned for a day that I am out of town :( I have to leave 5 days before it and won't get back until 2 days after :( Any insight or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!! How do people feel about a cupcake bar at a baby shower? I could make cupcakes 3-4 days ahead, freeze & thaw the day of. Then we could set it up like a sundae bar, where everyone frosts their cupcake themselves (and adds sprinkles, coconut, choc. shavings, etc.) as they like it? Does this sound like a cute idea? Has anyone done this before? Thanks for your time!

  10. I make baby shower gifts, where can I post flyers?

I make baby shower gifts such as diaper cakes, diaper wreaths and gift baskets, etc.. I have made flyers to spread the word to hopefully have some requests come in, however I have no idea where I can hang/post the flyers for no cost?! Any ideas? Help! :) Someone mentioned posting my flyers on the internet, I am not sure how to do that? I called walmart and party city and babies r us, and none of them allow people to post their own flyers or anything? Anyone know what i can do to spread the word?! :)

  11. My baby shower is on Saturday!! :-)?

I am having so much fun peeking at my registries! :-P My mom and good friends are planning it, but have me involved-and this is what we are doing/have planned so far: *We have a cute jar filled with pink colored m & m's (they were breast cancer ones, but don't have the ribbon anywhere on them) and we are having the guests guess how many there are. *We bought this cute tape that says guess how big mommy is for that game. *We ordered a cute cake-hopefully it turns out! *I'm baking Snickerdoodle cookies, and we will see if I find anything else to cook. I know my mother is cooking some stuff. *We are playing paper based games such as guessing what baby animal names are, a baby based word scramble, an alphabet game that you think of a baby related item for every letter of the alphabet and also how many words you can create with my daughter's name that is Ellen Kate. I'm so excited, I really only started getting excited last night like I have to prepare/clean as its at my house. I think I'm nesting and thats where me baking is coming in LOL. I'm going to go out tomorrow and look for some more prizes, but I have my mom doing the duty of wrapping them up in tissue paper. I'm so excited to set all the food/napkins/forks/put the tablecloth out. I need to go buy some matching pink plates though and some drinks-although my mother said she will be making some punch. We aren't doing much for decor...my mom said she will pick up some pink balloons. Am I missing anything? Any suggestions!? I just hope I look good that day! I'm afraid of not feeling well either! My due date is March fifth, but I have had some complications one of which has been severe (Placenta Abruption) and shes at a high risk of coming early so thats why the shower is about a month early! Actually-my baby shower is celebrating my little baby girl. We are having some other food yes. The baby shower is actually only two hours long though-1:30 to 3:30, as I'm not suppose to be stressed out because of my condition and I'm suppose to be on bed rest!

  13. Baby Shower Invitation?

Ok so my mom is throwing my baby shower but Im helping her out with invitations. How should I word that my mom is throwing it and a bunch of my aunts are pitching in with different things i.e food, cake Also both of my parents are paying for it just my mom is taking care of the details. Its says Thrown by: _____________????

  14. If hosting a baby shower at a restaurant, is it bad taste to have guests pay their own 'full' meals?

If hosting a baby shower at a restaurant, is it bad taste to only host the appetizers (and maybe a few pitchers of margaritas and of course the cake) with guests being responsible to pay for their full meal? And if it's ok, how do I make this clear in the invite? Maybe just word on invitation - "Cocktails & Hor'Deourves". The thing is, if we have it at her home, I don't want her to feel any stress in people overstaying their welcome, cleanup, spills etc... Thoughts?

  15. Friends backed out of throwing my baby shower, what should I do?

I am 6 months pregnant and my co-worker asked 4 months ago if she could plan my baby shower when the time arrived. My best friend threw one for me with my first son and it was AWFUL, I had to provide my own favors, invitations, decorations, food and cake (basically I threw it myself), so I was all for my co-worker to do this one. Well other co-workers said they wanted to help and asked for a list and then told me they would do everything else and to sit back and not worry. Since then they have changed the date 4 times and now the first co-worker says she's just too busy and the rest say they don't really want any decorations up in their house or want to spend much money on it (their words). What do I do now, my best friend said she would like to do it but I know I'll end up doing it all myself again or do I just tell everyone one to forget it. All I wanted was 1 day to just show up and enjoy the day, I don't know anyone who throws their own shower and frankly I'm really hurt. Advice please. Thanks

  16. My baby shower is being held in a banquet room how should I word the invitations if children are not allowed?

The banquet room is a hotel which has limited seating, due to the guests, food, cake etc all being in one room.... BTW...The invitations are being mailed out 4 weeks in advance which is plenty enough time for guests to find a babysitter BTW Again for the people wondering I have an 8 year old already this isn't my fist pregnancy & any baby shower I've ever been invited to I always got a babysitter for my son whether it was requested or not, it is a baby shower not a birthday party there is a difference

  17. Need Help With The Cake's Words?

I'm hosting a baby shower for a baby who is already born...She is a girl and her name is Nyla...I'm looking for something catchy to put on the cake.,, Any suggestions?

  18. Wording for wedding RSVP card...so confused!!?

First off, my wedding is on a tight budget...the kind of budget where I need to try to keep the price as low as I can. Lol. I'm having a bit of a delimma with invites and RSVP cards. I'll try to explain this the best I can..it doesn't make as much sence written out as it does when I explain it in person, so bear with me. :) I don't technically want to say no kids invited (because there will be a few children there that I'm already aware of), but I don't really want everyone to bring like 12 kids a piece. The venue offers a cheaper price for children between certain ages, so I'd like to know how many children in that age group would be attending so I don't have to pay $45 a person for somebody I could a discounted price on. I'm not trying to be rude...examples for my reasoning: at my aunts wedding, two of the children were running around the head table and knocked off the $300 flutes and broke them..but that was only after knocking two tiers off of the cake. And also once at my baby shower, my cousin brought her son and he threw up on the floor...no biggie normally, but she didn't clean it up! She just moved her chair over top of it. I don't want to have to deal with that stuff, so I'm trying to avoid too many children..but if they HAVE to come, I'd like to know. So I'm on the fence...how would I make it so that people didn't assume it is ok to bring all of their children, but still be able to know if they do so that I could get the childrens price? What should I do? How would you word the RSVP card? I hope that wasn't too confusing..it was writing it out though..took me like 45 minutes. Lol. I'm sure there will be additional info added as soon as I see points being brought up that I forgot to mention. Thank you for all the help!

  19. Names for Diaper cake business?

If you don't know what a diaper cake is here is an example, (This is not my website, just an idea for you to see what they look like) I really like the idea of alliteration with a three word name for my diaper cake business and since they are called "cakes" maybe something to do with a "bakery" or "pastries". I also make washcloth lollipops and candy, diaper wreaths and an assortment of other baby shower crafts,so I don't want it to do strictly with diaper cakes. I've thought of a few but it's sorta difficult to put baby and bakery in the same sentence because it could possibly sound ...morbid or something ..but any opinions on these? Buddha Belly Bakery Preggo Princess Pastries Baby Bump Bakery (Kinda sounds morbid to me, what do you think?) Country Bumpkin Bakery (I live in the south lol) Or if you've got any ideas, send em' my way! :) I don't like cutsie cutsie, I like cute but also something that sounds like an actual name of a business. Thank you Thanks guys, Ya'll are right about the bakery signaling...well an actual bakery lol. Maybe something like "Courtney's Babycakes N' Crafts"??? Any ideas to spice that up? My nickname is Corky...Does "Corky's Babycakes N' Crafts "sound better?

  20. What should I name my cake business?

What should I name my cake business? I'm starting a cake decorating business from my home and I need a good name for it. Any ideas? Preferably one word, like something that will be easy to remember that just rolls off the tongue. Thanks! Also, what do you all think of Babycakes? Does it make you assume that the cakes are only for baby showers? Or that they're only cupcakes? ok people no need to fret. It's just going to be something I do for friends, family, and friends of family. Yes I will charge for cakes, but this is not going to be my life long career. I just need a name to put on business cards.

  21. Words of wisdom for a first time mom?

I am making a diaper cake for my sister's baby shower. I am trying to think of bits of advice or funny anecdotes/jokes to write on the diapers for those middle of the night changes when al you want to do is sleep. What is the best advice that you have for a new mom? What is something you learned from experience that you never would of thought of? Can you think of any short jokes about having a baby that would make mom laugh?

  22. What are some alternatives to a traditional shower?

My husband and i are p/g with our first baby, about 17 weeks. And family members have been asking who's throwing my shower. Well my supposed best friend hasn't said one word about it (she's too busy in her own world)and i don't feel comfortable letting family members throw me a pity shower which is what happens when they ask me who's throwing it and i say no ones offered and they say "oh well if no one does it then i will" which is more insulting than anything. My husband and i have never done anything traditional, our wedding was at the courthouse, we didn't have a honeymoon or wedding shower, so we see no reason to do anything traditional for our baby as well. If people want to get us baby gifts whats an alternative way to do something? We have money and can afford to buy all of our baby stuff so it's not a lack of funds thing. We just don't see the point in a traditional shower since our family's spread all over 2 states so we would have to have 2 separate showers to include everyone and it would just be a pain quite frankly. Is there a less traditional way to allow family to buy us things if they want but not have to have a cake, with a gathering of people or something like that. My mother in law offered to throw me one but it would be where my husbands from so none of my family would attend because they won't drive two states away for something like this. My mom and best friend have not said one word about a shower, my sister is currently p/g with her 2nd kid and she lives 2 hours from me and doesn't know my friends or anything so for her to throw it would be difficult to say the least. The whole thing has me with a headache and just aggravated, so what are some other options? I'm not interested in those baby shower games, i kinda think their stupid..

  23. I am having 4 babyshowers?

I am 17 years old. My baby is due in 6 weeks. My boyfriends family is having a 'suprise' baby shower for me on the11th. my mom accidentally let it slip, im trying to pretend that i didnt realise what she said lol. My mom is having two the following weekend, one on saturday for my family on her, one on sunday for her friends. and my grandma is having one for my dads side of the family the weekend after that. i am excited but ive never been to a baby shower before. What goes on during a baby shower. i was helping my mom plan the two baby showers were having at our house. i plan on making cupcakes instead of cake and decorating them accordingly. we are going to have a taco bar for food. for the party favors we are making homemade chocolate covered pretzles and home made candies. i just dont know what kinds of games to play. baby bingo and word scrambles are fine i guess but what else. those only take like 10 min max. should we play a movie to break the silence?

  24. Spanish help por favor!!?

How do you say "congratulations" in Spanish? I have been told BOTH "felicidades" and "felicitaciones." And I do not know which one is correct. We are holding a baby shower and we are getting a cake and it needs to say congratulations in Spanish. Which word would be the correct one to use for this occassion? Gracias mis amigos!

  25. I'm about to give birth in a few weeks, should I start planning the funeral?

Since I'm only 16 and I'm going ta be a momma, that means my life is over, I know, I have come too terms allready. So should I throw a funeral for myself? I wast thinking it would be pretty much alike a baby shower, but with more grim decorations. Like a tomb stone shaped cake and skulls everywhere, And maybe a cardboard casket for me to sit in while my bff says a few words about my pre-momma life, like a eulogy. Should I start planning it now, or after the baby comes?

  26. Is this unfair? Should I demand my money or just leave it be?

I make cakes/cookies/cupcakes and sell them out of my home. Im a stay at home mom and its my only income. I fill at least three orders a week and I feel very fortunate because its illegal for me to advertise because i'm not a legitimate business. Everything is word of mouth and I don't want anything to hurt my business clientele. But hear me out... This woman came to me about her daughters baby shower and wanted 50 cupcakes and 50 onsie cookies with a 'D' piped on for the baby's name. I charged her $110. As a BONUS I added ribbon to the cookie favor bags along with a 'thank you' tag and I also decorated a carrier box for the cookies and the cupcake tower. Her husband came the day of the shower to pick up the goods and had a FIT when I told him that it was 110. He said "my wife never told me that'' and just told me he would not pay it and had no problem leaving without it. The shower was in one hour and I knew how excited the grandmother to be was. She was very specific about the design of the cookies and cupcakes. She even gave me her grandmothers chocolate buttercreme recipe because its their favorite so I was basically begging this guy to pay me. He gave me $50 bucks. And walked away with 7 hours worth of work. Its been almost a week and I have left two messages on his wifes phone and never got an answer back. This really pisses me the f off. Should I go to their mansion and demand my money? Or go to see her at church? Its not only about the money. I put alot of work into this and my baking money is what feeds my daughter and I. My husband thinks that I charge WAY too much and he says its not worth going after. I dont really think that he understand that its work and It also costs money for the materials. What do you think? Was my price really that unreasonable for all these homemade items? Here are pictures. http://tinypic.com/r/nfsbjc/4 http://tinypic.com/r/35kvotu/4 http://tinypic.com/r/10gjnzr/4

  27. Throwing a "sprinkle" for my SIL need some ideas...?

So basically I let my guilt and kind heart get the best of me and I have decided to throw a last minute "sprinkle" for my SIL. It's going to be at my house with just family (some of my friends that she knows cause she literally doesnt have any I am not being mean she actually has none). And my mom and gmom. It's her second boy in less then 4 years; but she didnt save ANYTHING and they are born diff times of year so almost nothing in small sizes can be reused. She really for some reason thought I was giving her a full blown "shower" like with her registering for EVERYTHING again. THis is going to be small with invites worded as: Pins, Diapers, Bottles Galore Tiffany and Randy are having one more Big Brother, RJ, has plenty to share This is only a "sprinkle" to show that we care Please join us to celebrate before baby is due In case you haven't heard they're back on team blue! the event will be may 17th so just 2 sundays from today. It's going to be outside at around 1130. Nothing fancy. My friend is helping me and we're getting almsot everything at the dollar store and then just making some food and make a cake ect. I mean I want it to be classy but at the same time we are keeping the budet like 40$ MAX. Any ideas for a simple theme to incorporate? I am thinking having everything ivory and light blue/green. ANy fodd suggestions or any fun drinks that can have alcohol added but are escentially non alcoholic. EDIT+ colors will actually be like a nice orange and grass green
